
1930 to 1939
On Saturday 18th October 1930 16 men under the chairmanship of Mr A. B. McKenzie of Stirling sat down in Kilmarnock to create the
Ayr County Association of Miniature Rifle Clubs.
The clubs represented at the meeting were: Ardeer; Ayr; YMCA; Beith; Dalry; Irvine; Kilmarnock; Largs; Kyle and Troon Miniature Rifle Clubs (MRCS)
During the meeting the Marquis of Ailsa accepted the role of Honary President and Messrs Burton offered a silver cup for the Individual Championship of the County.
The first elected Chairman was Mr D.O.S. Cunninghame of Kilmarnock and the first Secretary and Treasurer Mr I. R. Innes of Ardeer.
The first meeting of the Ayr County Association of Miniature Rifle Clubs (ACAMRC) took place on the 29th November 1930 at the
Ossington Hotel, Kilmarnock to establish the rules and entry fees for its competitions and to confirm its affiliation to the Scottish Miniature
Rifle Association (SMRA).
25th April 1931 first Annual General Meeting (AGM) at the Ossington Hotel Kilmarnock.
Burton Cup and County Silver Medal presented to Mr Alan Watt of Irvine; league championship taken by Kyle MRC
August 1931 Dundonald joined ACAMRC and invitations to affiliate sent to Maybole and Girvan.
19th December 1931, meeting at Ardeer House to set up inter county competiton with Stirling and Lanark Associations.
Entrants from ACAMRC limited to 60 with each affiliated club limited to providing between 2 and 6 shooters.
County competition rules changed to limit second round to 30 competitors and the final to 10.
2nd April 1932 second AGM at Ossington Hotel Kilmarnock.
Graduated gauges introduced for scoring and a challenge procedure established at a cost of 2/6d per challenge, forfeited if unsuccessful.
25th May 1932 Extra-ordinary General Meeting (EGM) held at Ardeer Club to increase officers, reject an application for affiliation from the Greenwich Police and deprive Ayr YMCA of affiliation for defaults on subscription.
15th October 1932 EGM held at Kilmarnock range to elect Captain and standardise the 10 bull 15 yard target across the County for competitions.
29th April 1933 AGM at Ossington Hotel, Kilmarnock learnt that the outdoor range at Ardeer 25 & 50 yards had been completed.
It was decided that the proceeds from the Burton Cup competition would go to the Ayr County Hospital.
19th May 1934 AGM at Ossington Hotel, Kilmarnock at which a sub-committee was charged with the negotiations for a 25yds, 50yds and 100yds range at Irvine.
11th May 1935 AGM at Lesser Co-Operative Hall, Kilmarnock at which it was decided that the proceeds of the Burton Cup should be split between the Kilmarnock and Ayr Infirmaries.
The sub-committee identified an outdoor range at Irvine and was awaiting approval from Scottish Command Edinburgh before starting work. Outdoor shoots took place at Dundonald and Ardeer.
2nd May 1936 AGM at Ossington Hotel, Kilmarnock learnt that the County had had its most successful year with the Ayrshire League comprising 3 divisions with 12 clubs competing in the first, 9 clubs competing in the second and 6 clubs competing in the third division.
A lease was signed for the Irvine Range. Range sub-committee allowed £17-9s-7d to construct range.
1st May 1937 AGM at Ossington Hotel, Kilmarnock learnt that a loss had been made on the first outdoor Open Shoot on the range at Irvine due to bad weather but that had been offset by 32 teams entering the Winter League in 3 divisions.
7th May 1938 AGM at Ossington Hotel, Kilmarnock was advised that the first Hon President the Marquess of Ailsa had died.
General Sir Charles Ferguson was appointed as Honary President.
Ayrshire won the 60 a-side Counties Competition to gain the Alexander Trophy and ICI Shield for the third time.
9th March 1939 a Special General Meeting at the Recreation Hall, Ardeer RC to agree that the Association be suspended until September.
The meeting in September to decide on the future activities of the Association.
The Secretary was instructed to carry out specific actions to prepare for that meeting.
All monies to be lodged with the Union Bank of Scotland to be accessed by specific signatories only.
